Understanding Scheme Documents — SID, SAI & KIM
Every mutual fund scheme comes with mandated offer documents. Here is what each one contains and where to find it.
SEBI mandates that every mutual fund scheme publishes specific offer documents. Rakesh Kumar Sachdev will provide these on request for any recommended scheme, at no charge.
SID — Scheme Information Document
The most important document. Contains the investment objective, risk factors, SEBI Riskometer, TER for Direct and Regular Plans, exit load, fund manager details and historical NAV performance.
SAI — Statement of Additional Information
General AMC information applicable to all its schemes: AMC details, rights of unit holders, tax information, KYC requirements and grievance mechanism.
KIM — Key Information Memorandum
A concise 1–2 page summary: investment objective, asset allocation, Riskometer, NAV, benchmark, fund manager, exit load and minimum investment amounts.
