National Pension System FAQs
Common questions about national pension system, answered clearly.
Under the old tax regime, NPS gives an additional deduction of up to ₹50,000 under Section 80CCD(1B) — over and above the ₹1.5 lakh limit under Section 80C — so you can claim up to ₹2 lakh in total. Salaried investors can also claim their employer’s NPS contribution under Section 80CCD(2), within prescribed limits; this employer benefit is available under the new regime as well. We confirm the current limits and how they apply to your case.
